 How
many Armenian Drams can you get for one US Dollar? Exchange
rates change every day. Visitors from different countries will
want to know what their foreign currency is worth in Yerevan.
Using the Internet, we can tell them.
Task: Find
Web pages which will tell you today's exchange rate between the
Armenian Dram and other currencies. If you live outside Armenia,
find out how many Drams you can get with 1000 units of your
local currency. If you live in Armenia, find out how many units
of some foreign currency you can get for 1000 Drams.
Hint:
Try one or more of the following.
Go to Altavista and
enter the search text: "universal currency converter".
Include the quotation marks.
Go to http://www.richeycom.com/currency/conv.htm
and use the currency converter there.
By the way:
The Canadian site at http://www.accu-rate.ca
can show you the historical currency rates for the Armenian Dram
against the Canadian Dollar. Can you compare the value of the
Dram relative to the Canadian Dollar in the beginning of 1997,
1998 and 1999? Can you plot the month to month values from
January 1999 to August 1999 to see how the Dram's exchange rate
changed relative to the Canadian Dollar?
